Ice in the Jungle – 2015
This is my debut picture book, which was also my final project during my MA in Children’s Book Illustration in Cambridge.
It is a story about change, adjusting and how we can help each other in difficult times.
It was inspired by my own experiences and those of friends and family. Ice in the Jungle can be bought in every good bookshop or online directly from my publisher Child’s Play or any other online bookshops.
It has been published in English, French, Dutch, Danish, simplified Chinese and Korean. In 2021 was also published as a bilinugual edition with the Title Nieve en la Jungla/Snow in the Jungle.
Ice in the Jungle has been awarded the Silver Medal of the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award and was shortlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize.
That’s NOT how you do it – 2016
My second picture book is about cultural differences, growth and acceptance. Lucy is based on my own biases and represents my former self before I started travelling and learning.
There are so many different ways people live and do things and none of them are wrong. Just different.
With this book, I wanted to tell a simple story of how we can all learn from one another and by doing so enrich our lives.
I feel Lucy and Toshi have a lot to teach and everytime I catch myself saying “That’s Not how you do it!” to someone, I remind myself of paper stars and origami cranes.
That’s Not how you do it! can be bought in every good bookshop or online directly from my publisher Child’s Play or any other good online bookshops.
It has been published in English, simplified Chinese and Korean.
Max and Xam – 2020
My third picture book is very dear to my heart. I absolutely love the characters. I hope to have many more adventures with them. It also took the longest to create, as I was having three beautiful kids between the last book and this.
Max and Xam are neighbours and very good friends. They love spending time and having fun together. Until one day an argument rips them apart. Neither is willing to give in and a fierce competition ensues. Will they ever be able to heal their friendship?
